• Lorraine Turci depicts the complex reality of people’s relationship with their territory. Her approach is both resolutely demanding and highly sensitive. Favouring long-term projects, often linked to exploration or to a certain idea of isolation and wilderness, she reveals particularities of the world. Her work focuses on questions of identity, human rights, transmission, and memory, seen through the prism of our relationship to land, nature and beyond. Lorraine graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Nantes and holds a Master's degree in Photography from the University of Paris VIII. She lived in Montreal for several years, then at sea, working as a photographer on a cruise-liner for four years. Determined to develop her personal practice, she resumed her studies, graduating with a diploma in Documentary Photography from the University of Perpignan in 2019. Since then, she has honed her artistic vision through personal photographic projects as well as commissioned work for the press and NGOs.
She is represented by Hans Lucas, has exhibited in France and abroad and participated in several festivals (Visa pour l'Image, Festival photo l'Homme et la Mer, Nuit blanche de Montréal, European Month of Photo, Norway Nordic Light festival, Warsaw Photo DaysHer work has also appeared in the press (Géo, Terra Mater, La Croix…). She has been the recipient of several awards ( The Independent Photographer and SIPA Awardswas a finalist for the Visa d'or de l'info numérique France Info and the Prix Paris Match du Photo-Reportage Étudiant and has just been awarded the Brouillon d’un rêve grant from the SCAM and the Prix Paris Match du Photo-Reportage Étudiant.
In 2022, she takes part in the major national photographic commission from the French Ministry of Culture: Radioscopy of France: looks at a country crossed by the health crisis.
