The maritime world remains a gray area in the collective consciousness. Seafarers are frozen in outdated images, caught between masculinity, heroism, and nostalgia. Distance and prolonged isolation keep the reality of their lives shrouded in mystery. Behind the surface of a romanticized horizon lie bodies, cycles, repetitive gestures, and vulnerabilities.

The project explores the sea not only as a workplace but also as a symbolic space. The voice fragments overlaid on the images come from interviews conducted by CRAPEM, a psychological support center for seafarers, and others collected by the photographer.

Sailors, whether in the fishing or merchant marine, bear witness to a world where productivity, survival, and collective memory intertwine. Those who transport our resources, our goods, and our dreams carry the weight of a world out of balance. The sea, for better or for worse.
