Documentary photographer Lorraine Turci places people at the center of her work. Having grown up in a rural, working-class immigrant community, she pays particular attention to peripheral spaces—coastal, island, border, and inland areas; those on the social or geographic margins—and to the lives that unfold within them, focusing as much on vulnerabilities as on forms of resistance and resilience. Balancing critical distance with personal engagement, her narratives articulate societal and environmental issues through an authorial documentary approach.
